Terms and Conditions

Effective September 2026

These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern access to and use of Business Hot Seat (the "Service"), operated by [Insert legal entity name] ("we," "us," or "our"). By logging in or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.

1. What Business Hot Seat Is

Business Hot Seat is a platform where a host posts a business question, invited users submit short video responses, other users can view and upvote those responses, and the host may compile selected responses into a single video for publication, including on third-party platforms like LinkedIn.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract to use the Service. By using the Service, you confirm you meet these requirements.

3. Account and LinkedIn Login

Access requires signing in through LinkedIn. By connecting your LinkedIn account, you authorize us to receive your name, profile photo, and headline as made available through LinkedIn's login service. We do not have access to your full LinkedIn work history or connections, and we don't claim to. You're responsible for keeping your LinkedIn account secure. We're not responsible for any activity on your account resulting from a compromised LinkedIn login.

4. Submitting Video Responses

When you submit a video response:

  1. You confirm the content is your own, that you have the right to submit it, and that it doesn't violate anyone else's rights.
  2. You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, display, edit, compile, and distribute your submission, including as part of a compiled video published on this Service or on third-party platforms, for as long as the Service or the compiled content remains active.
  3. Video responses have a hard time limit of 30 seconds. Submissions exceeding this limit will be rejected.
  4. You will not be paid for submissions. Participation is voluntary and uncompensated unless separately agreed in writing.

5. Host Curation Rights

The host has sole discretion to approve, reject, reorder, or exclude any submitted video from a compilation. Submitting a video does not guarantee inclusion in any published output. We may remove any submission at any time, for any reason, including content we determine to be inaccurate, offensive, off-topic, or otherwise inappropriate.

6. Voting

Each logged-in user may upvote a given video once. There is no downvote function. Upvote counts are visible to the host and may be used to inform curation decisions. You may not use automated means, multiple accounts, or any other method to manipulate vote counts.

7. Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to:

  1. Submit content that is defamatory, harassing, discriminatory, obscene, or unlawful.
  2. Submit content that discloses confidential or proprietary information belonging to a third party, including a current or former employer.
  3. Impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation with any company or organization.
  4. Attempt to bypass account restrictions, including any restriction preventing non-host users from creating a round or question.
  5. Use the Service for any purpose other than participating in or viewing Business Hot Seat rounds as intended.

There is no text comment feature on the Service. Any attempt to circumvent this by embedding text commentary into a video submission in place of an actual answer may result in removal of the content and suspension of your account.

8. Intellectual Property

The Business Hot Seat name, format, design, and compiled video output (excluding the individual rights each contributor retains in their own underlying video footage) are the property of [Insert legal entity name]. You may not copy, reproduce, or create a derivative platform based on the Service without our written permission.

9. Third-Party Services

The Service relies on third-party providers, including LinkedIn for authentication and one or more video hosting or processing services for storage and compilation. Your use of those integrations is also subject to the applicable third party's own terms. We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or conduct of third-party services.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any submitted video will be reviewed, included, or published within any particular timeframe.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, [Insert legal entity name] will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, including damages related to lost business opportunities, reputational harm, or loss of data.

12. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, for conduct that violates these Terms or for any other reason at our discretion. You may stop using the Service at any time.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. We'll update the effective date above when changes are made.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict of law principles.

15. Contact

Questions about these Terms can be sent to contact@mybizhotseat.com.
